Office of New Student Orientation Programs

Welcome New Rockets!

We’re delighted you’re joining the Rocket Family! Orientation is your official next step to becoming a new Rocket. During Rocket Transition orientation you’ll get to know your campus support system, meet other new Rockets, and be introduced to the resources to help you succeed at the University of Toledo. All students must complete the orientation requirement to meet with their academic advisor and register for classes.

Orientation Registration

Orientation registration for spring 2026 will open on October 1, 2025 at 12:00 p.m. (noon)! Keep an eye out for an email with the link to register for orientation sent to the email address you applied to UToledo with or check your New Rocket Portal for orientation registration information.

If you want to change your major, please inform the Office of Undergraduate Admissions at 419.530.8888 or 800.5TOLEDO before registering for orientation. Orientation advising is done by academic colleges, and your academic advisor contact information and required placement tests may change based on the new major you select.

Program Options and Dates

Orientation for students starting for the spring 2026 semester is available in-person and online module formats.  When you register for orientation, you can select the best option that suits your needs. Orientation is required before registering for courses.

In Person Orientation

Rocket Transition programs take place on campus and provide opportunities for students and their guests to attend presentations, establish new connections with other incoming Rockets, and register for courses.  The programming is offered on the following dates:

  • November 21, 2025 (registration deadline is November 19, 2025)
  • December 12, 2025 (registration deadline is December 9, 2025)

When you register, please have the names and contact information of all guests you intend to bring to orientation accessible.

For in person orientation, the program starts at 8:30 a.m. and you should prepare to be on campus until 5:00 p.m. During orientation, you will learn about offices and resources and have a meeting with an academic advisor to register for spring courses.

Online Orientation

If you select the online orientation, you will be sent a link to complete your online orientation via modules once you submit your registration. The online orientation modules can be completed at your own pace at any time after you submit your registration.  If you stop at the end of a section, the system will save your place and you can resume the orientation modules at any time.

You will know you've completed the modules when you see the message "You've Completed Your Online Orientation" above your name. The online modules take approximately one hour to complete. Your orientation hold will be removed within one business day of completing the modules.

After completing online orientation, you can meet virtually or in person with an academic advisor.

Orientation Fee

All new students must pay the orientation fee on their first semester bill. For new freshman and adult students, the fee is $125, and for new transfer students, the fee is $100. The fee is the same, regardless of which orientation method you register for and must be paid as part of your bill for the semester. The orientation fee covers student staff, cost of programs (including virtual platforms, registration platforms and in person materials), and cost of spring welcome and transition events. For students who choose to attend orientation in person, the fee covers the cost of lunch for the student.
