Statement on LGBTQ+ Affirming Care

The Counseling Center is aware of the recent passing of Ohio state legislature regarding discrimination of LGBTQ+ individuals within healthcare settings. The legislation states that medical professionals have “the freedom to decline to perform, participate in, or pay for any health care service which violates the practitioner’s, institution’s, or payer’s conscience as informed by the moral, ethical, or religious beliefs.” We at the UCC will continue to operate as an affirming and inclusive safe space for individuals of varying identities. UCC does not discriminate care for individuals within the LGBTQ+ community or otherwise. We strive to uphold the ethical codes of our profession and do not endorse or condone discrimination of any kind. For more LGBTQ+ friendly/affirming resources click here.
