Mindfulness Coping

Mindfulness

Mindfulness is the psychological process of purposely bringing one's attention to experiences occurring in the present moment without judgment.

Mindful Practices

Deep Breathing

Taking deep breaths can help ease stress and anxiety by activating the parasympathetic nervous system. By activating this system, your heart rate decreases and your body conserves energy.

Grounding

Grounding techniques are great for moments when it feels as if your mind it out of control or if you may be experiencing a panic attack. They bring you back into the present moment by shifting your attention to your 5 senses.

Progressive Muscle Relaxation

Progressive Muscle Relaxation (PMR) helps you scan your body for areas you may be holding tension, and teaches your body to release that tension and replace it with relaxation.
