Bacc2MD Frequently Asked Questions

What major should I pursue for BACC2MD?

Students can choose any major that aligns with their career goals. Selecting the pre-medical concentration will add suggested courses to their degree audit, which cover all topics on the Medical College Admissions Test (MCAT).

Should I opt-in to the Pre-Health Advising Center?

Yes. Students who opt-in to the Pre-Health Advising Center have access to pre-health advising, pre-health resources, and the opportunity participate in numerous events and programming such as mentoring, practice interviews, volunteer hours, etc. There is a $100 fee per semester to be included in the PHAC.

How do I apply for the BACC2MD Program?

Submit the online UToledo undergraduate application. Please refer to Undergraduate Admissions (utoledo.edu/admission/freshman) for detailed information on how to apply to UToledo.

Select the major of your choice

Select the "PMED" concentration code.

Answer "Yes" to the question regarding interest in participating in the BACC2MD Pathway Program.

You MUST say yes to this question on the application: Would you like to use official test scores (ACT/SAT) as a part of your admission decision?

Are there any supplemental materials that I need to submit, i.e. recommendation letters or a personal statement?

No, not for undergraduate admission to the BACC2MD program. Personal statements and letters of recommendation will be needed junior year when applying to the College of Medicine and Life Science.

I do not meet the minimum criteria; can I still apply?

Yes, you have until the start of fall term to submit your updated transcripts and/or test scores to the office of Undergraduate Admissions.

How will I be notified?

The office of Undergraduate Admission will send out acceptance letters within 2-3 weeks of receiving your complete application. Students will also receive a letter about opting in to the Pre-Health Advising Center at this time.

The University is now offering a “Test Optional” admissions policy, allowing students to apply to the University without submitting ACT or SAT scores. Does this apply to the BACC2MD program?

No, it does not. Students interested in the BACC2MD program are still required to submit ACT or SAT scores in order to be considered. Super scores are not accepted. 

Are AP credits accepted?

Yes.

Are there any scholarships available?

Yes. Scholarships available can be found from the Office of Financial Aid. We also encourage you to apply for the Presidential Scholarship

How many students can be accepted into the BACC2MD program?

There is no limit

Is admission into UToledo’s College of Medicine and Life Sciences (COMLS) guaranteed with this pathway?

Admission to the College of Medicine and Life Sciences is not guaranteed. 

Does this program accept transfer students?

The program is only for students who matriculate directly from high school.

Does this program accept international students?

No. UToledo’s College of Medicine and Life Sciences (COMLS) does not admit international students. Applicants must be U.S. citizens or have permanent resident status at the time of application.

Will I need to apply through both an early application and AMCAS my junior year of undergrad?

Yes, qualified undergrad students will apply directly to UToledo COMLS via a supplemental application and AMCAS. COMLS supplemental applications open in February of junior year, with a submission deadline of May 15th. Followed by an application completion deadline of May 30th (all materials including MCAT, LoR, and transcripts must be uploaded). Students must also apply via AMCAS during the summer between their junior and senior year (no code is needed when applying via AMCAS). All supplemental materials will need to be uploaded to both applications.

Can I apply to other medical schools through this program?

Yes, students are encouraged to apply to other medical schools. UToledo COMLS follows the AAMC traffic rules and used the Choose Your Medical School Tool by AAMC regarding offers and acceptances.

When are UT COMLS interviews held?

Interviews will be schedule during June between junior and senior year. Decisions will be provided by Oct 1st.

If I finish the undergrad program in 3 years (based on AP and CCP credits transfer), would I be able to matriculate to COMLS at the end of the 3rd year?

Students are allowed to graduate early as long as they complete all requirements for their major. Applicants will apply the year before they graduate.
