James M. Klein

Distinguished University Professor and
Professor of Law Emeritus

  

Professor Klein received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Michigan in 1966, and his law degree from Case Western Reserve University in 1969. A member of the law faculty since 1971, Professor Klein previously served as the Interim Dean and Associate Dean for Academic Affairs. He has been a visiting professor at the University of New Mexico, the University of San Diego, Florida Coastal School of Law, the University of Western Australia, and Charleston School of Law.

He is admitted to practice in Ohio and California.

Prior to joining the faculty, Professor Klein was a Reginald Heber Fellow assigned to Contra Costa Legal Services Foundation, Richmond, California. Professor Klein was a member of the ABA Accreditation Committee from 1997 to 2003. He was UT's NCAA Faculty Athletics Representative from 1990-2007 and currently is a member of the NCAA Legislative Review and Intepretations Committee.

Professor Klein's research interests include Clinical Law, Civil Procedure, Alternative Dispute Resolution, Pretrial Practice and Procedure, Trial Practice, and Labor & Employment.
