UT Interactive Marketing Initiative

The UT College of Business and Innovation Interactive Marketing Initiative was established in 2010. It strives to become a regional leader in discovering, generating and disseminating knowledge in the interactive marketing field through academic and applied research, industry collaboration, practitioner-oriented conferences and seminars, and student-related activities. To achieve its goal, the Interactive Marketing Initiative (IMI) supports the following activities:

Annual Internet Marketing Conferencethe conference is a half-day event that takes place during the UT Fall break. It benefits Toledo area small and medium businesses and features presentations by leaders and experts in the field of internet marketing. Past conference speakers include Jennifer Stone (Google AdWords), Mike Murray (Fathom SEO), Bill Balderaz (Webbed Marketing), Michael Temple (Temple Development) and others. The 2010 UT IM Conference features sessions on Social Media Monitoring (Tim Langhorst) and Web Analytics (Carrie Bell) among others. Interactive Marketing Career Track: In response to the increasing demand for Interactive Marketing Skills from employers, the Department of Marketing and International Business is offering undergraduate student an Interactive Marketing Career Track that would facilitate developing competencies and knowledge in the areas of web design for business communications, research engine marketing and optimization, marketing analysis and decision making, marketing research, and other important areas. The track also offers an optional internship with interactive marketing companies.

Student Interactive Marketing and Advertising Club: This organization will unite students with interest in the area. The major activities will include helping other campus groups create advertisements, slogans, logos, and develop marketing efforts. The club will invite professionals from the advertising industry to address the club members about their experiences and will help create excellent networking opportunities.

Hands-on interactive workshops and seminars: our experienced staff of Interactive Marketing experts have developed a slate of seminars and workshops designed to provide the business community with practical and comprehensive training in internet marketing and social media. Seminars range from 60 to 90 minutes; workshops from half-day to full day.

Non-degree certification program (currently in preparation): The cutting-edge, flexible, and dynamic program will focus on practical applications and strategic best practices to help you create an online presence for your organization, enhance your existing website and drive more traffic through multiple interactive channels. Using currently offered ad-hoc seminars as its foundation, the non-degree certificate program in Interactive Marketing will offer classes in web analytics, social media, email marketing, affiliate marketing, and other cutting-edge developments in interactive communications.

Clinical and Applied Research: UT Marketing faculty assist local businesses to assess their needs for research in the Interactive Marketing area. We offer state-of-the-art techniques and laboratory equipment for focus group and depth interview qualitative sessions. Survey and experimental methods are also utilized.
