"I always wanted to do something in the technical field, and information systems provided me with all types of opportunities. Combining my information systems major with a minor in marketing gave me choices of professions such business analyst, IT analyst and IT consultant. I am a people person, so getting the chance to interact and communicate with people face to face is what I am looking forward to.
I intern with the City of Toledo IT department where I assist their help desk as well as their field support team. Daily duties include analysis, documenting, and reporting employee technical issues, assisting the field support team with troubleshooting employee problems on the phone, and troubleshooting steps and resolution in the service desk tracking tool.
I graduated in May and am moving to the Cleveland area. I have not yet decided which company I will work for, but I have an offer as a business solutions consultant with Hyland Software where I would analyze businesses, creates solutions to problems, and help businesses develop efficient plans for meeting their goals. I also have an offer to be a help desk assistant with Progressive Insurance where I would provide support to end users on a variety of issues such as identifying, researching, and resolving technical problems.
The College of Business and Innovation prepared me well with work and interview etiquette. Mock interviews really helped play a major role as well. Having the opportunity to sit with employers and having them critique you as you interview was also very helpful. COBI helped me through job fairs as well as working with recruiters, and professors were willing to help in any way as well.
I would tell someone considering attending the UT College of Business and Innovation that the experience will be like no other. The amount of resources is by far better than most. COBI offers plenty of business organizations for you to join where you can expand your network. Anything you need, COBI has. No other choice to choose besides COBI.
