How to Prepare for the Fair

Schedule An Appointment With Your Career Consultant
Don't forget! You can meet 1:1 with our RC2 team to talk through your career fair plan. We can go through all the areas of preparation so you are putting your best impression forward for employers and hiring manager.

Do Your Research
Review the list of participating employers and make a short list of the ones you’re interested in. Tailor questions or your resume to match.

Update Your Resume
Have 10–15 printed copies of your most recent resume. Visit the Rocket Career Center or use VMock for feedback.

Practice Your Introduction
Prepare a 30-second “elevator pitch” that includes your name, major, interests, and what you’re looking for (e.g., internships, part-time jobs).

Set Goals
Decide what you want to walk away with: a new connection, an internship lead, or simply more confidence talking with employers.

What to Bring: Day of  Job Fair

  • Printed copies of your resume (10–15)
  • Notebook or phone to take notes
  • Bag or folder to collect brochures and business cards
  • Water bottle (optional but helpful)

What to Wear: Professional Dress Tips

Your outfit is part of your first impression, make it count! We recommend business professional attire for the DiscoverHEALTH Job & Internship Fair. This shows employers that you’re serious about your future and helps you feel more confident when making connections.

 Business Professional Guidelines:

  • Tops:
    • Blouses, button-down shirts, or collared shirts
    • Optional: Blazers or suit jackets for a polished look
  • Bottoms:
    • Dress pants, slacks, or knee-length skirts
    • Matching suits (pant or skirt) are ideal but not required
  • Dresses/Skirts:
    • Knee-length or longer with sleeves or a coordinating blazer
  • Shoes:
    • Closed-toe flats, loafers, or low heels
    • Clean and polished - avoid open toe shoes

Bonus Tips:

  • Stick to neutral or solid colors with minimal patterns
  • Keep accessories and fragrances simple
  • Make sure your clothes are clean, wrinkle-free, and fit comfortably
