Our Missions

The mission of the Bachelor of Social Work Programs (B.S.W) seeks to further social justice through education, community engagement and research.

The mission of the Master of Social Work Program (M.S.W.) is to advance social justice through masters-level social work education, community engagement and research.

 

The Social Work program is proud to announce B.S.W. student Callie Wright as the 2023 reciepient of the CHHS DEAN'S AWARD FOR OUTSTANDING DIVERSITY ADVOCACY: Undergraduate Student and to Dr. Celia Williamson as the 2023 recipient of the CHHS DEAN'S AWARD FOR OUTSTANDING DIVERSITY ADVOCACY: Faculty.  A hearty congratulations goes out to both of them!


The B.S.W. Program and the M.S.W. Program is accredited by the Council on Social Work Education's (CSWE) Board of Accreditation. Accreditation of a baccalaureate or master's social work program by the CSWE's Board of Accreditation indicates that it meets or exceeds criteria for the assessment of program quality evaluated through a peer review process. An accredited program has sufficient resources to meet its mission and goals and the Board of Accreditation as verified that it demonstrates compliance with all sections of the Educational Policy and Accreditation Standards. Accreditation applies to all program sites and program delivery methods. Accreditation provides reasonable assurance about the quality of the program and the competence of students graduating from the program.

The Social Work programs satisfy the educational requirements set forth by the State of Ohio to sit for the state licensing examination. Requirements for B.S.W. and M.S.W. licensure eligibility vary from state to state.  Please reference the Professional Licensure Information page for state details.

B.S.W. Program

The bachelor's of Social Work program offers a generalist practice prospective built on social and economic justice while preparing students for state licensure. Learn more about the B.S.W. Program.

M.S.W. Program

The master's in Social Work program offers a foundation and advanced curriculum preparing advanced generalist practitioners building on the foundation of social and economic justice from a strengths and empower perspective. Learn more about the M.S.W. Program.
