Alissa Karg Girard
Professional Biography
Alissa Karg Girard is a Business Consultant with the Ohio APEX Accelerator working within the University of Toledo’s Business Incubator. The APEX Accelerator empowers northwestern Ohio businesses with tools, knowledge, and technical resources to successfully navigate, compete and perform in the government marketplace.
Alissa holds a Master of Public Administration degree from the University of Michigan’s Ford School of Public Policy with a focus on organizational development.
Although from the greater Toledo area, Alissa has worked in humanitarian assistance and economic development in some of the world’s most fragile contexts. She has over 20 years of experience managing federal government award portfolios, and has a deep, practical understanding of business development, award implementation, compliance, and performance reporting. Alissa has held senior management roles with Corus International and Mercy Corps, leading a $9m public-private agribusiness partnership and a $16m collaboration, learning, and knowledge management consortium in West Africa.
Prior to joining the Ohio APEX Accelerator at the University of Toledo, Alissa worked as a management consultant, providing high-touch proposal development and training and technical assistance for various federal government bidders and prime awardees. Her expertise spans technical and strategic advising, organizational capacity strengthening, and research, learning and technical writing.
