Student Leadership & Professional Development

Co-curricular activities are important to create well-rounded health care providers and medical researchers. To make this possible, we allow student organizations to make most of their own decisions about student-sponsored activities, using OSA for guidance and resources. 

Purpose

The purpose of OSA is to uphold its mission statement by supporting student organizations and their activities. The office is located on the first floor of the Mulford Library Building. Our specific services include:

  • Maintaining membership records, constitutions, by-laws and updated rosters
  • Serving in an advisory capacity to assist with activities/programs, expenditures, and budget procedures
  • Sponsoring training sessions, officer meetings and a student recognition ceremony
  • Sponsoring and co-sponsoring interdisciplinary special events
  • Assisting organizations in applying for additional funding for new or innovative activities/programs
  • Working with the Student Organizations Advisory Committee to develop policies which regulate student organizations
  • Allocating funding to organizations for activities and programs
  • Assisting students in forming recognized organizations
  • Providing forms listed in the Student Organization Handbook
  • Maintaining the online Student Activities Events Calendars
  • Distributing information regarding student events 
  • Managing all reimbursements and purchase orders for student organizations and events
