Applications for Math Corps Summer Camp 2024 - now open!

The Math Corps at UToledo Summer Camp is a free program for middle school students and high school mentors from under-served communities in the Toledo area!

The Math Corps at UToledo Summer Camp serves students in under-served communities in the Toledo area who, in the fall, will be entering the 7th-9th grade. High school students entering the 10th or 11th grade serve as paid Teaching Assistants (TAs) and college students serve as (CIs). For Summer 2024, we hope to have 40 middle school campers, 20 high school students and four college students (instructors) in our camp!

Each day the middle school students receive instruction from University faculty and enjoy a variety of learning activities led by the college and high school students. The high school TAs serve as natural role models for the middle school students, and engage in their own learning of both fundamental and advanced mathematics.

Students accepted into the program receive supplies for the program.

APPLICATIONS ARE NOW OPEN!

Working with students for several weeks in the summer is simply not enough. The Math Corps Super Saturdays Programs serve as a compliment to the Summer Camp, providing a vehicle to follow through with students during the academic year. The same team-oriented, mentor driven, student-teaching-student approach is utilized.

The Super Saturdays Program serves returning students with an 8-week program that takes place during the winter semester. Students participate in both advanced studies and reinforcement of basic Mathematical skills. In addition to participating in grade level content in mathematics, the ninth grade students receive preliminary training designed to prepare them to fill the role of high school Teaching Assistant for the Math Corps Summer Programs. The returning high school students serve as Teaching Assistants to the middle school students and also participate in problem-solving workshops designed to prepare them to maximize their performance on the Mathematics portion of the SAT college placement exam (mathcorps.org).
