DeMya Wimberly

DeMya T. Wimberly, M.Ed. is a higher education professional with over 12 years of experience in student success, academic coaching, and career development. He currently serves as a Career Consultant at the University of Toledo’s Rocket Career Center, where he supports non-STEM majors through individualized coaching, classroom presentations, and targeted career readiness programming. DeMya transitioned into higher education after serving in administration at the Lucas County Youth Treatment Center, part of the Lucas County Juvenile Court.

Before stepping into his current role, DeMya worked as a Success Coach and Program Manager at the University of Toledo’s Center for Success Coaching. In that position, he led student engagement initiatives, worked closely with the Director to develop a tiered mobility structure within the coaching center, and built strong campus partnerships to expand student support. Since 2015, he has also taught UC 1120: Career and Self-Evaluation, guiding students in connecting their interests, values, and skills to informed academic and career decisions.

DeMya is a third-year Ph.D. student in Leadership Studies at Bowling Green State University. He is twice elected to the University of Toledo’s Professional Staff Council, where he represented the interests of professional staff across campus. From 2015 to 2024, he also served on the University of Findlay Board of Governors, including a term as President from 2017 to 2020.

Known for his collaborative leadership and student-centered approach, DeMya is also a strong advocate for professional staff, continually working to elevate staff voices and advance supportive, high-impact practices within higher education.
