Office of New Student Orientation Programs

Welcome New Rockets!

We’re delighted you’re joining the Rocket Family! Orientation is your official next step to becoming a new Rocket. During Rocket Transition orientation, you’ll meet your campus support system and other new Rockets and be introduced to the resources to help you succeed as a Rocket. All students must complete the orientation requirement to meet with their academic advisor and register for classes.

Orientation registration for students starting classes at UToledo in spring 2022 will open November 3.

Orientation Fee

All new students must pay the orientation fee before they attend orientation in person or receive the link to online orientation. For new freshman and adult students, the fee is $110, and for new transfer students, the fee is $100. The fee is the same, regardless of which orientation method you register for and must be paid through the registration portal at the time of registration for online orientation or on site for in-person programs. The orientation fee covers student staff, cost of programs (including virtual platforms, registration platforms and in person materials), and cost of spring welcome and transition events. For students who choose to attend orientation in person, the fee covers lunch for the student and one guest.

The orientation fee is non-refundable for students who attend an in-person session (whether or not you enroll in classes) or who complete online orientation and enroll at UToledo. Refund requests must be sent to and will be processed starting on January 21, 2022.

Orientation Registration

Orientation registration will open November 3 for students starting classes in January 2022, and you will see the orientation options when you log in to the orientation registration system at that time.

If you want to change your major, please inform the Office of Undergraduate Admissions at 419.530.8888 or 800.5TOLEDO before registering for orientation. Orientation advising is done by academic colleges, and your academic advisor contact information and required placement tests may change based on the new major you select.

Program Options and Dates

There are two options for Rocket Transition orientation for new students starting in spring 2022:

-          On demand online modules

-          In person sessions

Online Modules

November 3, 2021 – January 21, 2022

If you select the online modules (listed as a "date" from November 3 to January 21 in the reservation system), you will see a link to complete the modules once you submit your reservation. The online modules are able to be completed at your own pace, and you can stop at the end of a section and the system will save your place.

You will know you've completed the modules when you see " You've Completed Your Online Orientation" above your name. The online modules take approximately one hour to complete and your orientation hold will be removed within one business day of completing the modules.

In Person Sessions

December 17, 2021 9:00 a.m. – 11:30 p.m. REGISTRATION CLOSES DECEMBER 14 AT 8:30 A.M.

If you select an in-person orientation, be prepared to be on campus for the entire time of your session. During your session, you will meet other incoming students and learn more about the resources available to you as a new student. After you attend your session, you will be able to meet with an academic advisor and register for classes (note: this appointment WILL NOT be the same day as your orientation and will take place virtually).

More information will be sent to students and their registered guest one week before their session, including the schedule for the program.

Advising and Course Registration

Registration for classes will occur AFTER you complete your orientation requirement.

Once you have completed your orientation requirement (virtually or in person), you may contact an academic advisor to register for classes. List of academic college contact information.

All academic advising and course registration will be occurring remotely. Students will not be permitted to register for classes until they complete a Rocket Transition program.
