APLU Innovation and Economic Prosperity (IEP) Designation
The University of Toledo has earned the Innovation and Economic Prosperity (IEP) designation from the Association of Public and Land‑Grant Universities (APLU), a national recognition of institutions that demonstrate a sustained, institution-wide commitment to advancing regional economic development, workforce growth, and community impact.
The APLU IEP program provides universities with a structured framework to better understand, measure, communicate, and enhance their economic and community engagement efforts. Institutions receiving the designation have demonstrated a substantive, sustainable, and campus-wide strategy that aligns research, innovation, and education with regional needs and opportunities.

A Collaborative, Institutional Effort
Earning the IEP designation is the result of a rigorous self-study process that engages faculty, staff, students, and external partners.
