Limited submissions are disseminated by:

• Announcement Emails
• Limited Submissions portal
• Forwarded/Targeted Emails

If a limited submission program is not listed on the portal, please contact LimitedSubmits@UToledo to begin the limited submission process.

Internal competition timelines are determined based on the sponsor deadline - if a sponsor deadline changes from one year to the next, the schedule for the internal competition may change as well. Any anticipated dates for future internal competitions should be considered as approximate until sponsore deadlines are confirmed.

Competition timelines are set up to allow adequate time for internal submissions, review, and full proposal preparation within the Lead Time Rules.

Application components may vary depending on the sponsor requirements; however, typical application components may include, and are not limited to:

• PI/Co-PI Information
• Brief project summary
• List of addtional key personnel/collaborators on the project
• Abbreviated CV or biographical sketch of PI and Co-PIs/key personnel

Resubmissions

Copies of program reviews of prior submission and response to initial reviewer remarks.

Major Equipment Acquisition

A description of where the instrument will be housed and a plan for sustainability of equipment use.

Submissions will be reviewed and ranked by reviewers, appointed by the Office for Research and Innovation. Final decisions will be based primarily on the reviewers recommendations; however, final decisions will ultimately be with the Office of Research and Innovation. Review criteria are inclusive of the requirements of the respective funding opportunity, but will primarily be reviewed based on the following:

• Likelihood of success based on program objectives
• Relevance to UToledo's strategic initiatives
• Presentation of project (clear plan of action, summary of project)
• Qualifications of the investigators/collaborators
• Investigators' history of successful planning and development of competitive proposals for submission to external sponsors

Automatic Selection

If the number of internal applications received is fewer than the institutional limit set by the funding agency, then all internal proposals will move forward in the submission process.
