International Transfer Admission Requirements

If you are admitted to the University but do not meet requirements for your chosen degree program, you will be admitted into UToledo's Exploratory Studies program in University College.

College of Arts and Letters

  • Minimum GPA: 2.0

Music majors are required to complete an audition. Contact the Department of Music at 419.530.2448 or utmusic@utoledo.edu for more information.

Psychology majors will be admitted to pre-psychology until you earn 30 credit hours and a 2.5 GPA.

pre-health and pre-law tracks

Pre-med, pre-law, pre-dental and pre-vet are NOT majors at UToledo. They are pathways, or road maps, to a career in medicine, law or dentistry.

If you want to enter one of those pathways when you apply to UToledo, you will need to:

  • Choose a major.
  • Meet your program's admission requirements.
  • Select pre-medicine, pre-law, pre-dental or pre-veterinarian as an optional concentration on the UToledo application.

College of Engineering

Engineering Science majors

  • Minimum higher education GPA: 2.75
  • "C" or better in college calculus equivalent to MATH 1850 and general chemistry equivalent to CHEM 1230

Engineering Technology Majors

  • Minimum higher education GPA: 2.25

Computer Science and Engineering Technology and Electrical Engineering Technology majors

  • "C" or higher in calculus courses equivalent to MATH 1850 or 2450

Construction Engineering Technology  and Mechanical Engineering Technology majors

  • "C" or higher in trigonometry or pre-calculus courses equivalent to MATH 1330 or 1340

College of Health and Human Services

For students majoring in Criminal Justice, Paralegal Studies and Social Work

  • Higher education GPA requirements are based on transfer hours:
    0-29.9 semester hours ― 2.2 GPA
    30-59.9 semester hours ― 2.4 GPA
    60+ semester hours ― 2.5 GPA

For students in all other majors

  • Minimum higher education GPA: 2.7

College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics

  • Minimum higher education GPA: 2.0

College of Nursing

  • Students are admitted into the pre-nursing B.S.N. program with a 2.75 GPA and 12 graded semester hours or 18 graded quarter hours.
    Upon completion of the pre-nursing curriculum, you must apply to the professional sequence of the B.S.N. program. Admission is competitive.
  • RN-B.S.N. students are admitted into pre-nursing with a 2.5 GPA and active, unencumbered licensure as a Registered Nurse.

    Upon completion of the pre-nursing curriculum, you must apply to the professional sequence of the B.S.N. program. Admission is competitive.

 


College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences

  • Minimum higher education GPA: 2.7 (You will be admitted into pre-pharmacy and must apply after two years of pre-pharmacy coursework to the professional division.)
  • For admission to the professional program: a TOEFL score of 80 or higher on the iBT, with a minimum score of 18 in each of the four subcategories. Review the list of countries that are exempt from the TOEFL requirement.
  • Students who are not Ohio residents and/or have completed coursework at a non-Ohio institution will be considered on an individual basis. Applicants with below a 3.0 GPA are rarely considered.
  • We encourage you to apply for fall semester, although spring and summer admission also is permitted. We recommend that application materials be received no later than May 1 for fall admission, and at least six weeks before the start of classes for spring or summer admission.

  • Minimum higher education GPA: 2.4
  • Accounting majors — minimum higher education GPA of 2.75

Bachelor of Applied Organizational Technology Program

  • Minimum higher education GPA: 2.25

Applied Organizational Technology Associate Degree Program

  • Minimum higher education GPA: 2.0

Judith Herb College of Education

  • Higher education GPA requirements are based on transfer hours:
    0-29.9 semester hours ― 2.3 GPA
    30-59.9 semester hours ― 2.5 GPA
    60+ semester hours ― 2.7 GPA (overall and in chosen major)

Appeal Process

If you do not meet one or more of the requirements of the academic program of your choice but feel that you are ready for your studies at The University of Toledo, you may appeal. Review our admissions Appeal Process.


Suspension/Dismissals From Other Schools

If you have been suspended or dismissed from another institution, you will be required to provide additional documentation. UToledo will honor an academic suspension from another school up to one year. You will not be able to attend classes at UToledo until that year of academic suspension has been completed. Students suspended or dismissed for disciplinary reasons will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
