Making connections
You’re an important part of our community. Here are some tips on how to get involved on campus and find support.

Defining a Transfer Student

A transfer student is anyone who has attempted college credit at another school in the fall semester after high school or later. If you started at UToledo, then went to another university and want to come back to UToledo, you’re a transfer.

Is UToledo the only college you’ve attended in the past? Or the last one you attended before taking a break? You are considered a readmit student and have your own application process.

Readmit Application Process

Did you take college courses during high school (CCP)? You are considered a first-time freshman, not a transfer student.

Meet Ethan Jessing

Class of 2021, Middle Childhood Education; currently a STEM teacher at Perrysburg (OH) Schools
Transferred to UToledo from The Ohio State University midway through his freshman year

“Once I became a Rocket, I met friends through campus organizations and played mellophone in the marching band. My first home game performance is one of my favorite UToledo moments. Everyone was cheering for us. It made me feel like I was in a place where I belong. I felt at home. UToledo has so much support, and so many people ready to answer questions and guide you to the resources you need. If that’s what you’re looking for in a university and you’re not getting that elsewhere, UToledo is the place to go.”

Meet Raihaanah Safee

Class of 2022, cosmetic science and formulation design
Transferred from Wayne County Community College, Detroit

"I knew in high school that I was going to go to UToledo. I was always interested in cosmetic science and chemistry. No other university offers this undergraduate degree. I looked at the plan of study and cross checked classes with my community college. I was on a mission. The transfer process was super simple. I got the top-tier transfer scholarships and transferred with 60 credits. Growing up, there weren't many cosmetic products marketed to me or made for my depth of skin color. That's what compelled me to be a cosmetic scientist. Now I'm doing research on foundations, playing with ratios of pigment to create a more skin-like appearance."

Meet Isaac Kaba

Class of 2025, Pharm.D., member of Jesup Scott Honors College
Transferred to UToledo from University of Kinshasa, DR Congo

"I was interested in UToledo because the pharmacy program is one of the best programs in Ohio and a top one in the nation. I applied and was accepted in two weeks! Transferring credits was the most difficult part, but I called and texted and always got a good response. I transferred 155 credits and am considered a senior, although I have to take classes to finish some requirements. I had trouble finding housing, but Victor in the international office called other students to see if they needed a roommate. He also put me in touch with the African Peoples Association and the Pharmacy Student Association. I'm feeling more involved."
