The Maryse and Ramzy Mikhail Memorial Lecture is an annual event made possible through the Maryse and Ramzy Mikhail Endowment Fund at the University of Toledo, established in June, 2000, by the Mikhail family.

the maryse and ramzy mikhail Endowment Fund

The main purpose of the fund is to support an annual lecture dealing with Arab culture, literature, history, politics, economics or other broadly defined aspects of life in the countries of the Middle East, including issues of peace and justice.

Additionally, the fund is sometimes used for awarding prizes for competitively written essays, scholarships to university students, or for the acquisition of specialized educational materials. More information at mikhaillecture.com.

September 22, 1931 – March 2, 2002

An activist with an interest in peace and justice issues, Maryse Mikhail belonged to several educational, philanthropic, and interfaith organizations. She was also active in the Arab-American community and was the founder of the Middle East Resource Center.

Ramzy Naguib MikhailRamzy Naguib Mikhail

March 19, 1933 – November 30, 2007

A surgeon, philanthropist, and peace activist who belonged to many professional and cultural associations, Ramzy Mikhail practiced medicine in the Toledo area for more than three decades. He served as chief of surgery and chief of staff at Flower Hospital in Sylvania, Ohio.
