About Us
The Psychology Clinic is the training clinic for doctoral students in the UToledo Clinical Psychology program. Students conduct individual therapy and psychological assessments under the supervision of licensed clinical psychology faculty members. We offer in-person and telehealth therapy appointments via HIPAA-compliant WebEx. Due to the nature of the testing, assessment clients are required to come in person.
Generally, the clinic provides evidence-based treatment for specific problems with a limited number of sessions (usually no more than 1 year). We do not provide long-term supportive therapy. Clients who are seeking long-term therapy will be provided with community referrals. This allows us to serve more people in the community and gives our students the opportunity to work with a diverse range of clients and problem areas.
Acceptance for psychological services is based on whether the Clinic can provide appropriate treatment and if the case is suitable for training or research purposes. This determination is made by the licensed clinical psychologists who serve as supervisors and the Clinic Director. Individuals who seek assistance from the Psychology Clinic whose problems are not consistent with current training or research needs or who need more than the limited hours of the Clinic will be offered appropriate referrals to other mental health agencies or community resources. The clinic is run by the Clinic Director, the Clinic Manager, and the Clinic Graduate Assistant.
