Production Bios

cast

Alyssa Augustniak (she/her/hers) Margot Frank - is a freshman Theatre/Acting Major from Denison, TX. She participated in musicals all 4 years of high school. Her favorite roles include the Grinch in Seussical, Reporter in Chicago, and Ensemble Guys and Dolls. 

Christina Baker (she/her/hers) Mrs Van Daan - is a senior here at the University of Toledo with a concentration in Theatre and Film performance. This is her sixth show performing with the department, having been in previous works such as Elkshire (Alice), The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee (Marcy Park), and Hamlet (Gertrude). She also has directed for the previous year's Festival of New Student Work, and has helped design and build costumes for previous Festivals as well. After graduation, she will be designing costumes for the upcoming Festival in the Spring. 

Andrew Davis (he/him/his) Mr. Kraler/Man- Andrew Is a Freshman from the great state of West by god Virginia. He is double majoring in Law and social thought and Piano performance, with a passion for theatre. This is his first show at UToledo But he has previously played Lumiere in Beauty and the Beast as well as Gleb in Anastasia and Adam in Freaky Friday. He plans on going to law school after he graduates as well as continuing theatre in his free time. 

Cadence Enck (she/her/hers) Mrs. Frank - is a first-year Theatre Major and a Psychology minor. This is her first performance with the University of Toledo. The previous semester, she was on the costume crew for The Festival of New Student Works and the assistant stage manager for the production of Blood at the Root. Out of school, she has worked at Cedar Point for the past two summers with the Live Entertainment Team.   

Leonardo Hernandez (he/him/his) Peter Van Daan - is a second year theatre major from Toledo. This is his second performance at the University of Toledo. Previous credits at UT include Hamlet Hamlet. He hopes to pursue acting and technical theatre in NYC after graduating. 

Isabella Herrera (she/her/hers) Anne Frank - is a second year theatre major with a stage and screen performance concentration. This is her second production with the department. Previous credits include Ophelia in Hamlet and various roles in The Festival of New Student Works. 

Aliya Kirian (she/her/hers) Meip Gies - is a first year theatre major from Toledo, Ohio. Some of her previous credits include: Agnes from She Kills Monsters, Chris in A Musical for the End of the World, and the student director of Fools. She just finished filming a short film A Love from Within, written by one of her closest friends, Cincere Temple, and she plans to work on more projects with him. 

Oliver Marconi (he/him/his) Mr. Van Daan - is an English AYA Education Major with a minor in theatre. Previous UToledo credits include Hamlet (Ghost Player King) and Elkshire (Dreven, Mr Dane, Mr Churchill). He is excited to feature an original play in the upcoming 3rd Annual Festival of New Student Works. Oliver hopes to pursue acting and teaching after graduating, as well as getting his work published. 

Nicole Martin (she/her/hers) Worker/Man - Is a fourth year tTheatre major from Norwalk, OH. This is her second show at the University of Toledo. Previous credits include Captain Farragut in 20K Leagues Under the Sea. Short film credits include Escape From Reality and A Very Strange Woman. She wrote a play for the 2021 Festival of New Student Works called Happily Never After. After graduation, she plans to apply to grad school. 

Gerardo Rosario (He/Him) Mr. Dussel - is a third year Theatre Major from Puerto Rico. Previous roles include: Dan Dad/Janitor 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, Polonius Hamlet, and several roles in 2021 and 2023's Festival of New Student Works. He will direct a play in The 3rd Annual Festival of New Student Works this Feburary. 

Tyler Teachout (he/him/his) Mr. Frank - is a fourth year Theatre/Performance major from Holland, Ohio. This is his last show performing in the department. Previous credits include: Malcolm Festival of New Student works and Rosencrantz Hamlet. He plans to move to Chicago after graduation.

Madileine Chase (she/they) Assistant Properties Head - This is Madi’s 6th production with the department! They are currently touring a show as a puppeteer and a teaching artist with Children's Theatre Workshop. They spent the summer as a costume shop apprentice and are happy to continue their theatre creating in the department and in the professional world. 

Lila Cooper (She/Her/Hers) Assistant Sound Designer - Lila is in her fourth year at the University of Toledo majoring in both Psychology and Music Performance with a focus on music technology. This is her first year working with the Theatre Department.  

Kelly McBane (She/Her/Hers) Costume Shop Manager – Kelly is a faculty member at UToledo. She has designed and built the costumes for many shows at the University, most recently The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. When she's not at work she can be found tending to and talking about her dogs and chickens. 

Marissa McCoy (she/her/hers) Assistant Lighting Designer-  is a third year Theatre Arts/Psychology double major. She graduated from the Toledo School for the Arts with an honors diploma in theatre arts. She has worked as the assistant lighting designer for UToledo’s production of Blood at the Root, props manager for The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, performed as Merek in student written full length play Elkshire, as well as various other tech/acting roles. 

Chris Montpetit (He/Him/His) Theatre Manager - is originally from Niagara Falls, NY, where he received a Bachelors of Arts Degree in English/Theater from Niagara University. He continued his studies at Columbia University in New York City, where he earned a Masters of Fine Arts Degree in Theater Management. Professionally, Mr. Montpetit has worked at such companies and institutions as Macmillan/McGraw-Hill Publishing, The Kathryn Bache Miller Theatre, The Alma Schapiro Theatre, Artpark Theatre, ABC Television, Showtime Networks Inc., Genesee Community College Center for the Arts, SummerTide Theatre, and The University of Alabama. Academically, Mr. Montpetit is currently Associate Lecturer and Theatre Manager for the University of Toledo Department of Theatre and Film. Mr. Montpetit is the author of "What is Theatre? An Introduction to Theatre", published by Kendall Hunt Publishing in January 2016, with a revised edition published in August 2020. 

Holly Monsos (She/Her/Hers) Producer, Costume Designer - is Professor/Chair of the Department of Theatre and Film. She first joined the UT faculty in 1991, served as Chair from 2005 - 2011, and spent 9 years as Associate Dean of the college. Prior to coming to UToledo, she spent several years as a cutter/draper in professional theatre including extensive work with the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, Actors Theatre of Louisville, and the San Francisco Opera. Since moving to Toledo, she has designed for the Toledo Symphony Orchestra, Toledo Opera, Toledo Repertoire Theatre, Montana Rep, Public Works Collaborative and Ms. Unseen Productions in New Zealand, among others. Holly is active regionally and nationally in her professional organization, the United States Institute for Theatre Technology (USITT), having served two terms as the Vice President for Members, Sections & Chapters in addition to holding several positions including Chair of the regional section, USITT/Ohio Valley. Holly also serves as the Executive Director of Public Works Collaborative here in Toledo. 

Abby Papenfus (she/her/hers) Assistant Stage Manager - is a second year theatre design tech major from Toledo OH! This is her second year assistant stage managing within the department. Previous credits include Assistant Stage Manager The Festival of New Student Work 2023 Light Hang Crew & Costume Crew Blood at the Root and Light Hang Crew The Diary of Anne Frank.

Hazel Penrose (she/her/hers) Stage Manager - is a Senior Theatre Design Tech Major from Norwalk, Ohio. Previous credits include: Stage Manager Blood at the Root, Stage Manager Wake the Dead: A Murder Mystery Musical, Assistant Stage Manager Come See About Me, Assistant Stage Manager Celebrate Cedar Point Spectacular, Assistant Stage Manager Hamlet, Production Assistant Sons of Toledo. She plans on moving to D.C upon graduation to continue her theatre career. 

Stepehen Sakowski (He/Him/His) Production Manager, Lighting Designer, Sound Designer - Stephen is an Associate Professor at the University of Toledo and has been happy to collaborate on many productions since starting in the Department of Theatre & Film in 2015. He has his BFA from Otterbein University and his MFA from the University of California San Diego. His lighting design of All Quiet on the Western Front received the 2020 Jeff Award (Chicago's Top Theatre Prize) His work can be seen as a part of various live television events, and regionally at The Purple Rose Theatre. Congratulations to everyone involved with the production on a project well done! 

Bree Stouffer (she/her/hers) Assistant Costume Designer - is a junior Theatre major with a concentration in Design and Technology. She has previously worked on Jesus Christ Superstar (stitcher), Wait Until Dark (stitcher), Escape to Margaritaville (stitcher), Disney's the Little Mermaid (stitcher), and Hamlet (wardrobe).  

Daniel Thobias (He/Him/His) Properties Head – Daniel joined The University of Toledo Department of Theatre & Film faculty in 2012. He received his MFA in Scene Design from North Carolina School of the Arts, 2005. He has a wealth of experience with summer stock and festival theaters including Mount Washington Valley Theatre, Festival Stage of Winston Salem, North Carolina Shakespeare Festival, Opera Santa Barbara, and the Cuttingball Theater. He has an impressive portfolio of work which can be viewed on his web site: www.scenedesign.org. 

Nate White (He/Him/His) Scenic Designer, Technical Director – Nate joined the University of Toledo as the Technical Director in 2016. He received his MFA in Technical Production from the University of Alabama and his BA in Design and Technical Theater from the University of Nebraska at Kearny.
