Selling Scenario

Students will be selling 3M^TM VHB^TM (Very High Bond) tape. VHB^TM tape is 3M Science, Applied to Life and is used to build airplanes, skyscrapers, and many other things. VHB^TM tape is a proven alternative to rivets and screws, provides flexibility, saves time, and is easy to use. To help students develop a stronger understanding of how selling interactions vary based on who the customer is in the channel, rounds of the competition will focus on interactions with the business end user, dealer (or contractor), and distributor. Consequently, the "close" could be conducting training, doing a joint sales call, performing a demonstration, getting an order, etc.

Student Preparation

Materials are under review and in development. Once finalized, they will be shared with the participating universities. Product samples that could be used for training and demonstration purposes are being considered. The buyer profile for Round 1 will be sent shortly after university registration closes and will also be the same profile for Wild Card. Profiles for Quarters and Semi-Finals will be distributed onsite at competition check-in. The profile for Finals will be distributed shortly after the Finalists are announced.
