Dr. Elizabeth Napier is an Associate Professor of International Business and Marketing at The University of Toledo. Her research and teaching focus on global strategy, sustainability and the evolving role of organizations in navigating complex international environments. She is particularly interested in how firms build resilience through mindful leadership, ethical decision-making and human-centered approaches to global business.
Dr. Napier holds a Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology, a Master’s in International Business and a Ph.D. in Marketing with a specialization in International Business from Georgia State University. Her interdisciplinary academic background informs her perspective on culture, markets and global systems, shaping both her research and teaching approach. Originally from Atlanta, Dr. Napier brings a perspective shaped by her Southern roots and has since established her professional home in Toledo. This transition continues to influence her appreciation for regional culture, community, and the ways place shapes both business and identity.
In the classroom, Dr. Napier is known for integrating real-world application, executive-style analysis, and experiential learning opportunities that prepare students for global careers. She is actively engaged in initiatives that connect students with industry, including faculty mentorship for student organizations, advisory council programming, guest speakers, and experiential projects.
In addition to her academic work, Dr. Napier is a certified yoga instructor and incorporates principles of mindfulness, energy management, and intentional leadership into both her teaching and scholarship.
