Graduate Student Award Nominations
One of the most rewarding experiences that we have in academia is the recognition of the accomplishments and contributions of our students.
Graduate students play essential roles in our college, from teaching classes and mentoring undergraduate students to conducting research and disseminating results. In recognition of the outstanding contributions of our graduate students, we are request nominations from students, faculty, and staff in the College of Engineering for several graduate student awards. All graduate students in the college, in any program or department, are eligible for these awards.
Links to nomination forms for all awards are opened in mid-semester in the College of Engineering Graduate Studies Blackboard site. Award recipients are recognized at the College of Engineering Honors Convocation.
Outstanding TA Award
In recognition of graduate student teaching assistants that have contributed significantly to the University's goal of student success and academic excellence. Outstanding nominees will have promoted student learning, student persistence and retention, and academic excellence through their interactions with undergraduate students.
Scholarly Achievement Award
The Scholarly Achievement Award is the highest honor bestowed by the College on a graduate student researcher. In recognition of graduate students that have made outstanding contributions to the College and University’s academic legacy. Examples of scholarly contributions include high impact publications and contributions to edited volumes. Previous recipients are not eligible for this award.
Translational Research Award
In recognition of graduate students that have made outstanding contributions to the College and University’s mission of improving the human condition in the region and the world through translational and applied research. Examples include primary contributions to research that has resulted in invention disclosures, patent applications, licensing, or commercialization. Previous recipients are not eligible for this award.
Research Mentor Award
In recognition of graduate students that have contributed significantly to the College of Engineering's research mission by serving as mentors to other students embarking on research (high school students, undergraduates, or new graduate students). Mentoring includes, but is not limited to, training other students in research methods, experimental design, and ethical conduct of research; providing research guidance to new students; and serving as a role model to promote a culture of research excellence in the College. Previous recipients are not eligible for this award.
