GRADUATION TERMS
Graduation
Graduation refers to the official awarding of your degree by The University of Toledo.
Graduation application
Your graduation application is the form you submit via MyUT Portal. Click here to learn how to apply to graduate or ensure you've submitted your application!
Degree audit
Degree awarded
This means that your degree has been officially conferred to you by The University of Toledo and happens following the final day of the semester and commencement.
Transcript
Your transcript is your academic record including coursework, grades, and grade point average.
Diploma
Your diploma is the certificate that you receive following the awarding of your degree with your name and degree name.
COMMENCEMENT TERMS
Commencement
Commencement refers to the ceremony during which degree candidates are recognized and celebrated for their achievements. Degree candidates do not officially graduate at the commencement ceremony.
Commencement program
This is the booklet distributed during commencement including the names of degree candidates and the degrees they are receiving.
Regalia
Regalia refers to the academic dress degree candidates wear during commencement including the mortarboard or tam, gown, hood, and tassel.
Hooder
This is the individual who a doctoral candidate designates to hood them during the doctoral hooding ceremony during commencement.
