2. Submit A graduate Application

    • Create an application account. Some of our programs use a Centralized Application System (CAS). Links to CAS are provided. For other programs, select "Start New Application."
    • Fill out the application fully.  You can continue to make changes to your application until it has been submitted. After it is submitted, you can no longer edit your information.
    • Upon submitting your application, you will be required to pay the application fee.  The application is not fully submitted until the application fee has been paid.

3. Submit Supporting documentation

Transcripts

Current and previous UToledo students do not need to submit their UToledo transcripts.

Contact all previous higher education institutions you attended and have them send your official transcripts to the University of Toledo following the guidelines below.  We cannot process your application until we receive your transcripts.

    • A transcript is only considered official if it is sent electronically from the issuing institution directly to the University of Toledo, or (if hard copy) it is in the original sealed envelope with a registrar’s stamp intact.
      • Electronic transcripts are preferred.  When ordering electronic copies from your previous institution, please choose University of Toledo or University of Toledo Graduate Admissions.
      • Hard copy official transcripts should be sent to the mailing address listed in the “Questions about your application” box below.
    • Transcripts should indicate degree earned, date of conferral, and a key to the grading system used.
    • Transcripts and diplomas should be submitted in their original language. If the document is not in English, please submit a word-for-word English translation that follows the format of the original document.
    • English translations must be certified by the issuing institution, a certified translator, or you may choose an approved translation service from the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services NACES.

Please note:  If you have only one copy of a foreign transcript or diploma, please visit the Graduate Admissions Office with your documents upon arrival to campus.

Test Scores

The University of Toledo Institution code is 1845.  Submit your scores through the testing service company.  We do not accept paper copies or uploaded digital copies.  Test scores must still be valid (not expired) on the first day the student begins their program.

Proof of English Language Proficiency

All non-U.S. citizens/permanent U.S. residents must provide proof of English Language proficiency as outlined below.  The University of Toledo accepts the following English proficiency tests:

    • TOEFL PBT 550
    • TOEFL iBT 80
    • IELTS 6.5
    • PTE 58
    • Duolingo 110

Students who qualify for admission to The University of Toledo but lack the required English proficiency test scores may gain conditional admission to their program of study by completing the Graduate Access Program (GAP) through the University of Toledo's American Language Institute (ALI).  The GAP program provides intensive English language instruction in the term before the student begins their program of interest.

Students may qualify for a waiver of the English language requirement if they can provide proof of:

    • Citizenship from one of these countries.
    • Successful completion of a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from a regionally accredited U.S. college or university
    • Successful completion of at least 24 credit hours of undergraduate academic study at a regionally accredited U.S. college or university.

The University of Toledo reserves the right to require evidence of English language proficiency for all applicants, the adequacy of which shall be at the sole discretion of the Graduate Admissions Office.
