About LaValley Law Library
Occupying four levels within the Law Center, the LaValley Law Library contains more than 330,000 volumes in printed, microform, video and digital formats. More than 3,300 serial subscriptions form the backbone of our scholarly collection. The American law collection includes federal and state judicial decisions, statutes, administrative regulations and decisions, US Supreme Court briefs, legal encyclopedias, treatises, periodicals, and access tools.
Our Library is a US Depository Library and receives a wide array of law-related government documents. In addition to the American Law collection, the LaValley Law Library also houses legal materials from the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, and Canada. We also have a growing international collection focusing on human rights and global trade. The Library's book collections are complemented by extensive electronic resources.
All first year students are trained in the use of two vast electronic law libraries
-- Lexis and Westlaw. A state of the art online catalog, UTMOST, provides bibliographic
access to both the Law Library and the main campus Carlson Library. UTMOST also provides
access to user-initiated online borrowing through the catalog of the 80 OhioLINK consortium
libraries as well as a vast array of research databases. Library workstations provide
access to a growing electronic collection of CD-ROMs and Web-based subscriptions.
A wireless network allows law students to conduct electronic legal research from anywhere
within the law school building.
The LaValley Law Library also provides a variety of media and computer services to
members of the law school community to meet their teaching and academic presentation
needs.
