Endowments at the University Libraries

Building the Future: Creating a Named Endowment

One of our main priorities is to grow and enhance our general endowment funds.  These funds can make the difference between covering expenses and being able to really innovate.  Creating an endowment starts with a minimum donation of $25,000 and can be used to support and help establish a number of potential projects important to you.  Some projects we are seeking funding for include… 

  • Endowed Directorship of the Carlson Library
    To create an endowment fund in support of the Director of Carlson Library on the UT Main Campus.

  • Endowed Directorship of the Mulford Medical Library
    To create an endowment fund in support of the Director of Mulford Library on the UT Health Science Campus.
    ($250,000)
  • Endowed Directorship of the Canaday Center for Special Collections
    To create an endowment fund in support of the Director of the Canaday Center for Special Collections.  
    ($250,000)
  • Endowed Professorship of Information Literacy
    To create an endowment fund in support of a faculty member who teaches information literacy.
    ($250,000)
  • University Libraries Speaker Series Endowment
    To create an endowment fund featuring a well-known author or scholar lecture on campus.

  • Canaday Center Endowment for Graduate Student Stipends
    To create an endowment fund in support of the graduate student assistants who work in the Canaday Center.

  • Digitization Project Endowment: 
    To create an endowment fund to support the digitization of the Canaday Center of Special Collections.
    (goal of $250,000)
  • Professional Development Endowment: 
    Create an endowment fund to support the professional development of staff in the University Libraries and Academic Support.
    (goal of $250,000)
  • Special Collections Endowment: 
    To create an endowment fund to support the purchase of books and documents to enhance our special collections in the Canaday Center – new ideas include UT Sports Archives, the History of Medicine and the history of disability awareness in Toledo.
    (goal of $100,000)
  • Preservation of Special Collections Endowment:  
    To create an endowment fund to preserve our current special collections by funding conservation treatment and archival storage for fragile documents.
    (goal of $50,000)
  • Student Technology Assistant Endowment: 
    To create an endowment to support a library student worker position.
    (goal of $50,000)
  • Library Student Scholarship Endowment: 
    To create an endowment to fund a scholarship to support a student library employee in his or her academic pursuits.

  • Collection Development Initiative: 
    To create an endowment fund to purchase books in support of any academic interest of your choice.
