Your Manga, Your Way: A Campus Exhibition, on display in the Carlson Library North Gallery from March 23 through May 1, 2026, celebrates student creativity through fan art inspired by manga, comics, books, anime, television, and film. Students are also encouraged to submit original comic or manga-style artwork.

This exhibit features work by currently enrolled students at the University of Toledo. The exhibit features 2D and 3D work in both digital and physical media created by students across campus with majors in English, Art, Astorphysics, biology and more.

Your Manga, Your Way offers students an opportunity to share their artistic voice, celebrate fandom, and see their work displayed in a campus gallery setting.

Panel: Becoming the Narrative: Fan Art Community & Representation

Becoming the Narrative: Fan Art, Community and Representation will bring together artists and scholars to discuss how fandom fosters creativity, belonging, and representation. On Monday, April 13, 5:00 - 6:00 pm in the Carlson Library room 1005, panelists will explore the role of fan art in building community, how artists use familiar characters and visual styles to express their worldviews, and how fandom spaces allow fans to imagine stories where they see themselves reflected.

Anime and manga fandom has long been a space where fans do more than follow stories—they actively participate in shaping them. Through fan art and original artwork inspired by anime and manga, artists reinterpret beloved characters and worlds, creating new narratives that reflect their own identities, perspectives, and experiences. As a complement to the Your Manga, Your Way: A Campus Exhibition, this panel explores how fan communities transform appreciation for a medium into creative expression and shared cultural space.
