The Ward M. Canaday Center Is Open to the Public by Appointment 

The Center welcomes researchers by appointment only. We accept appointments Monday - Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Please contact us at 419-530-4480 or at canadaycenter@utoledo.edu to request an appointment. Alternatively, you can complete the appointment request form by clicking on the link below. We will contact you to either confirm or suggest an alternative date/time. Please note that it is important that we confirm your appointment before your arrival as we need time to retrieve materials and ensure adequate staffing. Appointment requests must be submitted at least 24 hours in advance.

The Ward M. Canaday Center for Special Collections acquires, preserves, organizes, and makes available for research the institutional memory of the University of Toledo as well as the personal and organizational records of the people and industries of Toledo and Northwest Ohio.  Our services are available to University faculty, staff, students, and alumni as well as to the general public.

CANADAY CENTER CLOSING EARLY JUNE 22, 2023

On Thursday, June 22, 2023, the Canaday Center will close at 12:00pm. We will reopen for normal hours on Friday, June 23, 2023.

EXHIBITION DOCUMENTING THE HISTORY OF THE UNIVERSITY OF TOLEDO NOW OPEN

"Faith, Vision and Hard Work: The University of Toledo, 1872-2022" is now open. Free to the public, visitors can view the exhibit Monday through Friday, 8:30 - 4:30 until August 1, 2023.

NEW EXHIBITION TO OPEN ON UTOLEDO'S FOUNDERS DAY, OCTOBER 12, 2022

"Faith, Vision and Hard Work: The University of Toledo, 1872-2022" is Ward M. Canaday Center's newest exhibit, commemorating UToledo's sesquicentennial. It looks back at the institution's 150 years of history, highlighting the events that shaped the university. The opening is scheduled for October 12, 2022, following a lecture by former university archivist and director of the Canaday Center, Barbara Floyd. Floyd is the author of An Institution for the Promoting of Knowledge: The University of Toledo at 150, published by the UToledo Press. Her lecture is scheduled for 3 p.m. on October 12, and will cover the ten events that defined the university. The free, public exhibit will be open until August 1, 2023 and will be available for viewing Monday through Friday, 8:30 to 4:30.
