CITY OF TOLEDO - CITY MANAGER RECORDS, 1947-1982. [PDF]
The collection includes materials from the City Manager’s Office from 1947 to 1982: administrative materials, correspondence with city departments, and correspondence with local businesses and corporations. Original order was maintained where possible, with materials filed by year and arranged alphabetically by folder. Folder names reflect the original naming convention of the City Manager’s Office. Of note are materials relating to the day-to-day operations of the city, including files on Weed Control, Utilities, Gun Laws, the Toledo Zoo, Handicapped Access, the Red Cross, and many more municipal departments. Also of note are correspondences with local companies, including large glass companies like Libbey-Owens-Ford, Owens Corning, and Owens-Illinois. There are many miscellaneous files arranged alphabetically within the collection that contain records not applicable to any department in particular. This collection will be of great interest to local historians of Toledo, as well as to historians of American municipal government. MSS-308, 67 linear feet.

MICHAEL J. DAMAS PAPERS, 1958-1964. [PDF]
This collection consists of correspondence, photographs, and other materials of the former mayor of Toledo Michael Damas, from 1958 to 1964, during the time that he was a politician. Examples of correspondence include letters of congratulation upon winning the mayoral race in 1959. There is also campaign material, as well as a Certificate of Election from when Damas took office. This small collection consists primary of correspondence to and from Councilman Douglas regarding various issues affecting the City of Toledo. Subjects discussed in this correspondence include traffic/roads, police and fire departments, and noise complaints. The collection also includes a study on the city's police division. Collection consists of correspondence, reports and studies, and newspaper clippings related to downtown Toledo revitalization. Subjects include parking, urban renewal, transportation, and other postwar ideas on urban planning. Much of the material was sponsored by city government. MSS-027, 2 linear feet and 3 volumes.

Political activist, later Toledo Councilman, peace activist, and national president of Veterans for Peace, Inc.
Collection consists of documents concerning Ferner's early activism, City Council campaigns from 1987 to 1991, office records from 1989 to 1993, and records of his mayoral run in 1993.  Materials documenting his activism in labor affairs and peace/anti-war campaigns, as well as his involvement with  Veterans for Peace, Inc., are also featured in this collection and include photographs and VHS video recordings. This collection is comprised of Mr. Lakin's professional papers and office files created during his tenure as Executive Director of the Toledo Metropolitan Area Council of Governments (TMACOG). A dedicated civil servant, Mr. Lakin led this non-profit organization of regional governments in its goal of providing technical services to its members. MSS-144, 6 linear feet.

TOLEDO POLICE DEPARTMENT MISCELLANEOUS RECORDS, 1899-1937. [PDF]
"Miscellaneous Reports" (1908-1913) list all reports of crime made to the police during the period. Matron's records document all women and juveniles jailed between 1903 and 1905. Subjects include petty crime, prostitution, automobile theft, personnel issues, and other daily events of police officers performing patrol duties. MSS-053, 23 volumes.
