12 months (Year 1)

Located on the University of Toledo Health Science Campus at the Kobacker Center, the Youth Acute Care Unit is a 16-bed inpatient psychiatric unit which utilizes multidisciplinary care for adolescents in acute mental health crises.

Outpatient child and adolescent psychiatry

24 months (Year 1 and 2)

Outpatient child and adolescent psychotherapy

18 months (Year 1 and 2)

Fellows receive specific instruction, case discussion, and supervision in multiple therapy modalities by faculty experienced in CBT, PCIT, ACT, ERP, biofeedback, and psychodynamic psychotherapies.  Therapy is done with direct supervision via one-way mirror, to provide the highest level of training and feedback.

Pediatric neurology

6 months (Year 2, one day per week)

Fellows work with the pediatric neurologists at ProMedica Russell J. Ebeid Children’s Hospital (formerly ProMedica Toledo Children’s Hospital), providing inpatient and outpatient care for children and adolescents with neurological disorders.


Pediatric consultation rotation

6 months (Year 2, one half day per week)

Fellows work in concert with a faculty clinical psychologist in a consultative capacity with the outpatient pediatrics resident clinic at UTMC to gain experience in the mental health-primary care interface, provide education to pediatrics residents, and learn brief behavioral and supportive therapy interventions.
