Medical Physics Graduate Program Scholarships
The Medical Physics Graduate Program is committed to supporting its students' academic and professional growth through a variety of scholarship opportunities. These scholarships recognize academic excellence, research achievements, and community involvement, helping to ease the financial burden of graduate education.
The applications will be reviewed by the radiation oncology scholarship committee. Applicants must be current students in the MSBS in Medical Physics, or accepted applicants of the program. The committee will use the criteria of each award as a guide to determine the most eligible student applicant to receive the award.

Nadeem Khan Scholarship
The Nadeem Khan Scholarship is awarded annually to one deserving full-time graduate student from the Health Science Campus working towards an MSBS degree in Medical physics. Dr Nadeem Khan was a graduate of the medical physics masters program in 2008. Every year since then he has generously given a $1000 scholarship to a student in the program from which he graduated. His generous contributions have now made a difference to so many graduates now working as clinical medical physicists. Past awardees are shown below.

Scholarship Criteria
Preference will be given to students with strong community involvement and leadership skills and a GPA of 3.6 or higher.
The applications for the Nadeem Khan Scholarship will be reviewed by the radiation oncology scholarship committee. Applicants must be current students in the MSBS in Medical Physics. The committee will use the above criteria as a guide to determine the most eligible student applicant to receive the award.
The Justin Walker Lone Star Medical Physics Scholarship
Justin Walker, a medical physicist, alumni from 2013 and Texas native, is committed to supporting the next generation of professionals in the field. Recognizing the importance of education and innovation, he has established the Justin Walker Lone Star Medical Physics Scholarship. This award provides financial assistance to dedicated graduate students pursuing a master's degree in medical physics at the University of Toledo Medical Center. Justin's goal for this scholarship is to help alleviate the financial strain on students and to encourage a genuine passion for medical physics, paving the way for their future contributions to healthcare and scientific advancements. Past awardees are shown below.

Scholarship Criteria
- Academic Excellence: Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 in their graduate studies, demonstrating solid academic performance in the field of medical physics or a related field.
- Creative Problem Solver: Applicants have the option to submit either a one-page paper or a 2-minute video explaining a complex medical physics concept in simple terms or demonstrating an innovative approach to solving a problem in the field.
- Medical Physics Meme Contest: To showcase their sense of humor and ability to engage with the field in a fun and light-hearted manner, applicants must create an original medical physics meme and submit it as part of their application. The meme should be entertaining and related to medical physics; it does not necessarily have to be educational.
The applications for the Justin Walker Lone Star Medical Physics Scholarship will be reviewed by the radiation oncology scholarship committee. Applicants must be current students in the MSBS in Medical Physics. The committee will use the above criteria as a guide to determine the most eligible student applicant to receive the award.
The Medical Physics Consult Scholarship
An anonymous group of graduate UToledo medical physics alumni and practicing medical physicists have pledged their commitment to supporting the next generation of professionals in the field. Recognizing the importance of medical physics education, they have collectively established the Medical Physics Consult Scholarship. This award provides financial assistance to dedicated graduate students pursuing a master's degree in medical physics at the University of Toledo College of Medicine & Life Science. The alumni’s goal for this scholarship is to help recruit the brightest and most committed students to the medical physics graduate program, alleviate the financial strain on students and to encourage a genuine passion for medical physics, paving the way for their future contributions to healthcare and scientific advancements. The intention is for this scholarship to be offered to a newly accepted student in order to solidify their choice to accept an offer from the graduate program at UToledo. The scholarship will be awarded upon their matriculation into the graduate program.
Application Process
No scholarship application is required. All successful applicants to the program will automatically be considered, based on their application materials.

Scholarship Criteria
- Academic Excellence: Successful awardees must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 in their undergraduate studies, demonstrating solid academic performance in the field of physics or a related field.
- This award aims to recruit the best students to the MSBS - medical physics graduate degree program offered at the University of Toledo College of Medicine & Life Science. Successful awardees will be currently accepted applicants to the medical physics graduate program with an excellent undergraduate GPA. Special attention will be paid to undergraduate physics grades. Although a GRE score is not required, the scholarship committee may use high GRE scores as part of their selection criteria.
