New Student Orientation Programs

WELCOME NEW FRESHMAN ROCKETS!

We’re delighted you’re joining the Rocket Family and are excited to prepare you for your first semester at UToledo.

Rocket Launch is a one-day orientation program taking place on select dates in June.  We have a lot of information to cover, so be prepared to be on campus from 8:30 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. on your selected Rocket Launch date.  All orientation sessions take place in person on our main campus.

Rocket Launch is required for all new students coming to UToledo directly from high school and first time students under the age of 21. Transfer students and first time students 22 and older attend Rocket Transition.

ORIENTATION REGISTRATION

Rocket Launch orientation registration opens January 31, 2025 for Summer 2025 students and February 28, 2025 for Fall 2025 students.  Registration is required to attend Rocket Launch.  Please note that your enrollment deposit must be paid before you can register for Rocket Launch.  This deposit is required for students graduating high school in May or June 2025.

If you want to change your major, please contact the Office of Undergraduate Admissions at 419.530.8888 or 800.5TOLEDO before registering for orientation. Your orientation date options and required placement tests may change based on the new major you select.

Before Attending Rocket Launch

Registration is required for Rocket Launch.  Because Rocket Launch dates vary by college and are first come, first served, you must log in to your Admitted Student portal once registration is open to view dates available to you.

When you register, be sure to have information on any prior college coursework (including any AP/IB scores or upcoming tests you plan to take).

ORIENTATION GUESTS

Students are welcome to bring guests to orientation.  Rocket Launch has important information for both students and their parents or family members.  We will have separate sessions during the day for parents and family members to learn about how to support their student and resources we have on campus.  While completing orientation registration, be sure to have contact information for any guests attending with you on the day of the program.

Placement Testing

Placement tests and ACT /SAT scores (if applicable and submitted to UToledo) are used by our departments to place you into the correct courses.  To make sure you get the correct schedule at Rocket Launch, be sure to complete your placement tests at least one week before attending orientation. Learn more about your college's requirements for placement testing at the link below.

Rocket Card

The Rocket Card is the official UToledo identification card and provides students quick access to campus services. Submit your photo before orientation so it's ready for you to pick up when you come to campus!

What to Expect at Rocket Launch

During Rocket Launch, we will have a variety of sessions to connect you with all the important resources you need to succeed as a Rocket.  You'll meet current students, hear from Rocket Solution Central about paying your bill and more!  You will also meet with advising staff in your college and register for classes.

More information, including where to park and what to bring, will be emailed to you one week before your orientation session.

Orientation Fee

All new students must pay the orientation fee.  For new students, the fee is $125 and is paid on your first semester bill once you are registered for classes. The orientation fee covers student staff, cost of programs (including student lunch), and cost of welcome and transition events during the semester.
