NCAA & N4A Student-Athlete Development

The University of Toledo Athletic Department is proud to adopt and implement the recently developed Student-Athlete Development Task Force White Paper Outline as a baseline for supporting our student-athletes holistically. Created by the National Association of Academic & Student-Athlete Professionals (N4A), This outline can be found here. As a reflection of our commitment, in 2023, we hired a full-time staff member dedicated to this initiative. More information about our new Director of Student-Athlete Development can be found here.

Commitment to Personal Development - To support the development of a well-balanced lifestyle for student-athletes, encouraging emotional well-being, personal growth, and decision-making skills. Services provided in this component include presentations, workshops, and individual sessions on topics outlined in the N4A SADV White Paper Outline. These can include a variety of areas, ranging from mental health to career preparation.

Commitment to Career Development - To encourage the student-athletes to develop and pursue a career and set life goals for life after sport. One key event held each year is our “Rockets Rise: Networking & NIL Night”, where student-athletes have the opportunity to network with more than 40 local, regional, and national employers to learn more about internships, job opportunities & NIL engagement.

Commitment to Community Service -  A reflection of our Athletic Department Mission, is our dedication to servanthood here at The University of Toledo.  Our student-athletes participate and engage in various activities throughout the school year in and around the Toledo community. UT student-athletes participate in both on-campus and Toledo community-based programs, including opportunities for campus and community events, mentoring local children, volunteering at local hospitals and charitable organizations, and other related activities. To double down on our commitment to serving our community, we partnered with Helper Helper  to make sure we were transparent and accessible with our service record and opportunities throughout the year. In 23’-24', Toledo Athletics was ranked #23rd  nationally for our dedication to service. Read more here.
