Honors Curricular Requirements
Jesup Scott Honors College students are subject to specific course requirements designed
to deepen the educational experience in their major and offer a shared exposure to
an interdisciplinary humanities/social science core emphasizing community engagement
and critical thinking skills. The required sequence of these courses a student should
observe is determined by their degree-granting college in which they are enrolled
and the student's preferred track - either the "Blue track" or the "Gold track."
Any questions about your Honors requirements to graduate can be directed to the Josh
Martin, the Assistant Director of the Honors Experience, at joshua.martin2@utoledo.edu.
Earning the Honors Medallion
Honors students will have the option of choosing between the BLUE track and the GOLD track. Both tracks ultimately require 27 Honors credit hours. However, whereas the
BLUE track (detailed below) requires only three Honors core classes, the Gold track requires five. Ultimately, the difference between the two tracks is how many of the 27 Honors credit
hours come from HON courses (i.e., 9 or 15) as opposed to from major/elective courses.
The BLUE track is designed with pre-professional majors in mind, who may have less flexibility
in their curriculum. Any student can opt into the GOLD track by following the second table below while also satisfying the BLUE requirements for that degree-granting college.
