How Much Does a UToledo Education Cost?

Tuition Guarantee
Our tuition guarantee means the tuition you pay during Year 1 of college will be the same tuition amount that you pay in Year 4. Your tuition won’t change or increase from year to year — and neither will your on-campus housing and meal plan rates.
Listed below is the average amount that full-time, international undergraduate students pay per year without scholarships. Your cost to attend UToledo will vary by college, program and other options.

Scholarships
International Rocket Award
The International Rocket Award is a merit scholarship based on your GPA. No other application is necessary! If you qualify, you get the scholarship when you are admitted to UToledo.
GPA 3.0 and above: $8,000
Students who apply directly to the American Language Institute (ALI) at The University of Toledo and students who meet UToledo academic requirements but are referred to the ALI may be eligible for this assistance upon the successful completion of the ALI program. This scholarship will not be applied to any fees associated with the ALI.
Sister Cities Special Tuition Rate
If you are from one of Toledo’s Sister Cities around the world, you qualify for a special, lower tuition rate. You will pay the same tuition that Ohio residents pay.
The Sister Cities Tuition Rate is guaranteed to new undergraduate students whose permanent address is within one of the Toledo Sister Cities/Regions at the time of application.
Students from Toledo's Sister Cities do not qualify for the International Rocket Award.

UToledo’s international student scholarships aren’t the only scholarships that you have the potential to earn as an international student.
UToledo’s departmental scholarships for undergraduates also offer financial assistance to promising students. Here are some of the scholarship opportunities to which you can apply as an international student.
Shapiro Scholarship
For students interested in majoring in economics, the Economics Department’s Shapiro Scholarships for economics majors provide tuition assistance and research grants of varying amounts of funding. You can earn assistance for your tuition payments or grants to support your studies while you complete economics research projects.
No additional scholarship application is required. The Department of Economics will notify newly admitted students about scholarship eligibility automatically.
Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship
Prior to each fall semester, five transfer or adult students will be awarded a $1,000 scholarship. Applicants must provide proof of Phi Theta Kappa membership and meet the minimum GPA requirement.

Levis Leadership Award
For students with demonstrated leadership potential, the Levis Leadership Award is a scholarship offered through the Office of Student Engagement and Connections to high-achieving incoming freshmen. Incoming freshmen are selected through eligibility criteria including GPA, standardized test scores, and leadership qualities exhibited through high school honors, activities, and community service.
The Levis Leadership award is an experiential scholarship program that includes participating in up to four years of leadership development. Recipients receive a $1,000 scholarship in their first year, followed by a $750 scholarship for years 2-4.
