Why professional selling development if you are not majoring or minoring in it?
Selling is important in every aspect of business and even personal life. Having the
ability to sell yourself and ideas you have gives you such a leg up against competition
and will help confidence in new situations.
Work experience:
Double A Solutions, Sales Specialist Intern
Student organization:
Pi Sigma Epsilon, Vice President of Finance
What is the most valuable lesson you’ve taken away from the ESSPS?
The most valuable lesson I have learned from the ESSPS is that failing is necessary
to move forward. The sales competition is a great example of this; getting your bearings
in your first go around so that when you come back you will be polished and ready
to do great.
What is the most valuable thing you took away from an ESSPS event such as Internal
Sales Competition, Sales Connection, UToledo Invitational Sales Competition, VIP Suites?
The most valuable thing I have taken away from an ESSPS event would be that networking
truly does fuel the business world. You never know who you will run into and being
able to network comfortably with people is a skill a lot of people overlook.
How has the ESSPS enhanced your understanding of professional sales?
ESSPS has enhanced my understanding of professional sales immensely. Without the Internal
Sales Competition, I would have no idea how a real sales call/meeting looks, but having
that experience eased many nerves so that when I went on a real sales call, I knew
what to expect.
What advice would you give to students to make the most of their ESSPS experience?
My advice would be to get involved as much as possible. The ESSPS events are a great
resource to get real world experience in a risk-free environment; take advantage of
that!
Favorite college memory:
My favorite memory so far from college would have to be PSE National Convention last
spring when my presentation team got number 1 in the nation for our recruitment presentation.
Seeing our hard work pay off was one of the most rewarding feelings ever.
Plans for future:
As far as the future goes, I am still deciding if accounting or finance is right for
me. I have an accounting internship lined up at Rehmann for this summer, and that
will hopefully provide insight into where I want my life to go.
