The University of Toledo John B. and Lillian E. Neff College of Business and Innovation has announced the launch of two brand-new programs within the Information Systems major, designed to prepare students for the rapidly evolving demands of the tech industry.

Starting in the 2024-25 academic year, the curriculum offers two specialized tracks: Enterprise Business Systems and Business Analytics.

These tracks align with the key growth areas within the field of Information Systems, namely project management and data analytics.

In response to industry trends and job market demands, UToledo’s Department of Information Systems and Supply Chain Management (ISSCM) has crafted a curriculum that offers targeted education and practical skills, ensuring that graduates are equipped with the skills needed for successful careers.

Each track is tailored to prepare students for specific roles in the workforce, with a strong emphasis on hands-on learning and real-world application.

"We are thrilled to introduce these innovative tracks within our Information Systems major,” said Dr. Paul Hong, Chair of the Department of Information Systems and Supply Chain Management.

“Our students will gain not only theoretical knowledge but also practical skills that are essential in today's data-driven and technology-focused business environment."

The Enterprise Business Systems track is designed for those aspiring to become Information Systems (IS) project managers.

The curriculum focuses on essential project management competencies, including project planning, requirements analysis and process automation.

Students will gain proficiency in key areas that are crucial for managing and implementing enterprise-wide systems.

The Business Analytics track, on the other hand, caters to students interested in the dynamic and expanding field of data analytics.

This track emphasizes data-driven decision-making and equips students with skills in data visualization, data cleansing and data mining.

The curriculum is structured to provide a comprehensive understanding of how data can be leveraged to drive business success.
