The University of Toledo is announcing its recruitment of qualified professionals for the position of University Law Enforcement Officer. Recruitment for this position will create an active eligibility list should any positions become available.
Candidates must be at least 21 years of age by Sept. 14, 2007; possess a valid driver’s license; have weight proportionate to height; meet minimum standards of physical condition/fitness; and have a valid Ohio Peace Officer Training Certificate, or be currently enrolled in an OPOTC-certified police academy by Sept. 1, 2007. In addition, candidates must submit to a urinalysis test; have completed 96 quarter hour/64 semester hours of college level academic credits from an accredited college or university (having earned a GPA of 2.0 or higher); OR education may be substituted with five (5) years of continuous active full-time law enforcement experience (as a state-certified peace officer) with a certified law enforcement agency. Finalists must successfully pass a psychological exam; polygraph exam; written, oral, testing, and interview processes; thorough background check; etc.
Starting wage is $39,104. Anentry-level written police examination will be administered Saturday, Oct. 13, 2007. Candidates who meet minimum qualifications will be contacted by mail with testing information.

Police Officer – UTPD currently employs 39 police officers. Starting pay ranges from $34,944 (without academy) to $38,147 (with academy). Top of scale for police officers is currently $46,176. Applicants must be at least 21 years old, have a valid driver’s license, and must successfully pass a variety of tests and background checks.
Police Dispatcher – UT Police has both full time and part time radio dispatchers. Starting hourly rates range from $10.39 to $13.04. Dispatchers must have excellent public relations skills and be able to pass a number of tests and a background investigation.
Student Workers – University Police employs students in many roles, including Rocket Patrol (ticketers) and various clerical positions. Starting wages range from $6.85 to $8.50 an hour.
