New Graduate Teaching Assistant Orientation & Training
Welcome new graduate teaching assistants! The College of Graduate Studies and the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning team up each year to host the New Graduate Teaching (TA) Assistant Orientation & Training. The New Graduate TA Orientation & Training is designed to equip you with knowledge on procedures, best practices, and resources as you begin instructional duties at UToledo.
When Is The New Graduate TA Orientation & Training?
This year's orientation and training will be held on Thursday, September 4th from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m. on Main Campus in Health & Human Services Building Room 1500. Registration is required.

What Topics are covered?
This training is an intensive, two hour session split into two sessions.
Part 1: Teaching Assistant 101
During Part 1, Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning Director Dr. Jeanne Kusina provides an informative presentation on ethics, professionalism, syllabus prep, mandated reporting, and building belonging in the classroom.
You will learn about the services the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning offers.
Part 2: TA Panel & Resources
In Part 2, we have a panel of current teaching assistants discuss their experiences in the role including their wins, lessons they've learned, moments that surprised them, and more! They also share their advice and favorite tips for succeeding in the role.
The College of Graduate Studies will also share helpful resources for supporting students.
