This MGRS, The University of Toledo Graduate Student Association and College of Graduate Studies are celebrating all of the ways graduate and professional students improve the human condition through their diverse research and fieldwork. We are honored to welcome Toledo City Council Member Dr. Brittany Jones as our keynote speaker.

How Does the 2025 MGRS Work?
The 2025 MGRS will have four session types: Main Stage, Seminar, Lightning Talks, and Poster.

Main Stage
The Main Stage session will include our keynote speech, lunchtime professional development sessions, and acknowledgements!

Seminar
Our seminar sessions will include 10 or 20-minute talks from graduate & professional students from a variety of disciplines.

Lightning Talks
New! Lightning talks will include 5-minute talks from graduate & professional students from a variety of disciplines.

Poster
The poster session will include all presenters who will be sharing a display of their research/field work with us.
2025 Schedule
Registration: 8 - 9 AM in Memorial Field House Lobby
ARRIVAL
8:00 - 9:00 AM
During this time, all participants (attendees, presenters, speakers, and judges) will arrive to check in and prep as necessary. This will include connecting with organizers, receiving program materials, and hanging posters.
Main Stage: 9 - 10:30 AM in Memorial Field House 2100

Seminar Session: 10:45 AM - 12 PM
You'll have the opportunity to listen to many wonderful seminar presentations from graduate and professional students of various disciplines!
Lightning Talks: 10:45 AM - 12 PM
Join in for bite-sized talks on the important and diverse projects and research graduate and professional students are doing!
Lunch & Main Stage: 12 - 1 PM
THREE MINUTE THESIS (3MT®) PRESENTATION & PANEL DISCUSSION
12:00 - 1:00 PM
Lunch will be served and a panel of Three Minute Thesis (3MT®) winners & finalists will discuss their experiences participating in the Three Minute Thesis competition. Attendees will have the opportunity to watch a winning presentation and learn new ways to effectively explain their research.
Poster Session: 1 - 2:30 PM, Memorial Field House Atrium
POSTER PRESENTATIONS
1:00 - 1:45 PM (Group 1)
1:45 - 2:30 PM (Group 2)
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT SESSION: PREPARING FOR ACADEMIA
Posters of a variety of disciplines and topics will be displayed in the atrium & lobby of Memorial Field House.
Presenters will switch at 1:45 PM.
Future faculty! Join this interactive workshop with the university Writing Center to learn ways to prepare for careers in academia.

If you are not a student, faculty, or staff member holding a UToledo parking permit, you must purchase a visitor permit. Day permits are $5.95. Click here to purchase a visitor permit.
We recommend parking in Area 13. Accessible parking is also available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Calling all UToledo students! The GSA is seeking day-of volunteers for the MGRS. Here are the different ways you can volunteer:
- Session moderators and timekeepers: Do you enjoy public speaking or want to develop your skills? Introduce our presenters and keep time of seminar presentations! Bonus - you'll get to hear about the amazing research happening in the Midwest.
- Judge & evaluation support: Data entry enthusiasts! Collect judging sheets and tabulate scores.
- Registration: Check presenters, judges, and attendees in at the registration desk!
- Greeting and floating: Friendly faces that direct attendees, presenters, and judges. If you're a people person, this role is for you!
