Master of Athletic Training Program

Scholarly Project

Through a series of courses, students will be exposed to the fundamentals of sports medicine research and armed with the tools to select and apply evidence to their clinical practice. Later courses in the sequence provide students with opportunities to contribute to the body of evidence through case studies, critically appraised topic and  review papers and contemporary methods such as social media and blog posts. Students are also strongly encouraged to submit their work and attend professional conferences at the state, regional and national levels.

At no time are students required to independently develop and conduct a study, rather students are encouraged to engage with students in the Post-Professional and Doctoral Programs. The UToledo MAT Program is proud to be comprised of faculty that are actively contributing to the sports medicine field via the Motion Analysis and Integrative Neurophysiology (MAIN) lab, and MAT students are provided ample opportunity to engage in research as a supplemental experience.
