Financial Assistance and Resources
The University of Toledo Master of Public Health program has a limited financial support budget. Currently, we do not offer any department scholarships and only have a small number of graduate assistantships that are awarded on a very competitive basis.
Graduate Assistantship
Students may apply for a Graduate Assistantship which provides a stipend plus waiver of tuition. These are available on a very limited basis and the application process is competitive. To apply, you must be enrolled in the M.P.H. program and have successfully completed at least one semester.
Graduate Assistants are required to enroll for a minimum of twelve credit hours each semester and work for twenty hours each week. Assistantships are awarded for a twelve-month period, pending maintenance of a satisfactory grade point average. Students may be requested to reapply for Graduate Assistantship support after the twelve months.
MIchigan Initative Award
Michigan Initiative Award ― Graduate students from Hillsdale, Lenawee, Macomb, Oakland, Washtenaw or Wayne counties in Michigan are eligible for this renewable scholarship. The award equals the out-of-state tuition surcharge.
University Scholarships
The University of Toledo Foundation manages many scholarships funded by private donors to the university. Visit the Scholarship Search to learn more about scholarships and eligibility requirements.
Private Sources
The internet provides hundreds of resources for scholarships and grants. Search for web sites and enter specific criteria. A couple of hours in front of a computer can yield free tuition.
Faculty and Staff Tuition Assistance
The university policy and procedure for employee tuition waivers is outlined in a link found at the employee's MyUT account. Under Employee, on the left of the screen find Benefits Information, click on Tuition Waiver. An online form is included with the information and can be submitted through the site. The form must be completed after enrolling in classes.
