The Department of Biological Sciences at the University of Toledo seeks to understand the fundamental processes of cellular life and how dysfunction of these processes lead to disease.  In doing so, our mission is to advance biological knowledge by merging cutting-edge science with excellence in student training.  Our Department is highly interdisciplinary, with faculty employing a wide range of innovative experimental approaches and model systems to study fields such as reproductive biology, neurobiology, virology, immunology and cancer biology to name a few.  Our students benefit from the vibrant research and training atmosphere of our Department, with undergraduate and graduate students working closely with faculty to find their passion for Biology both within the lecture halls and at the lab bench. Together with other departments across the University, we strive to provide an integrative environment in order to prepare the next generation of leaders in the life sciences.

Basic curiosity fuels our love for Biology, and we invite you to join in on our mission to uncover and decode the secrets of biological life.
