The department offers B.S. and B.A. degrees in biology. The courses and research in the department emphasize cell biology, molecular biology, genetics and related areas. Biosciences undergraduates are offered many opportunities including the chance to participate in the biology honors program, conduct undergraduate research, study abroad at the University of Salford or be selected as an undergraduate teaching assistant.  Visit the Undergraduate Programs page to find out more, including information about our new Medical Technology degree program.

The department offers M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in biology as well as the dual degree M.S. in Education/ Biology for individuals interested in science education. SCHOLARSHIPS AVAILABLE!!!

Scholarship opportunities for currently enrolled Biology majors are now available.  

The C. V. Wolfe scholarship ($1,680) for the 2015-16 academic year is available to biology majors presently in their second or third year, who are Ohio residents and graduated from an Ohio high school. 

Two Biology Merit Scholarships ($1,000/each) for the 2015-16 academic year are available for outstanding biology majors with demonstrated need and ability. 

The Charles M. Balch summer research fellowship  ($2,500) is available for a pre-med student to support their summer 2015 research work in a Department of Biological Sciences laboratory. All require a minimum GPA of 3.0.  Application deadline is  April 3, 2015.
