Confocal Fluorescent Light Microscope
The Confocal Fluorescent Light Microscope allows researchers to more easily view internal
structures of cells such as organelles through the use of stains, dyes or bioluminescence.
This instrument was added to the SCOPE program in 2012 and has illuminated numerous
classrooms since. With the Confocal Microscope, users can:
- highlight specific organelles
- create 3D representations of small areas of cells
- study multiple different organelles (in different colors) in the same sample
The Confocal team consists of biology professors from the University of Toledo, allowing us to share ongoing research with your students. Click on the link to the right to learn more about the professors that volunteer with SCOPE and the research they share with SCOPE participants.
