Honors Thesis and Seminar

Finding a Thesis Adviser

• Both thesis and seminar are individual study courses with an adviser you collaborate with. The faculty member chosen must approve your registration for the courses (Honors Thesis MBC, PHCL, or PHPR 4960; Honors Seminar MBC, PHCL, or PHPR 4900).
• Consider your research interests and strengths along with the research strengths of the faculty in each department.  For more information, visit the departmental faculty pages.
  • Department of Medicinal and Biological Chemistry faculty interests
  • Department of Pharmacology faculty interests
  • Department of Pharmacy Practice faculty interests
• Talk with two or three faculty members working in that field.
• Gain perspective on their research interests and their capacity/support to take on a student.  
• Talk with students who have worked with faculty members on a research project.
• Check availability of funds for research and consider writing a research proposal for funding

Completing the Thesis

College Honors

1. File a Project Proposal with the Jesup Scott Honors College
2. Complete the research project
3. Follow the guidelines for a written Honors Thesis.  Edit and revise in collaboration with your faculty project adviser.
4. Submit final thesis to Jesup Scott Honors College by the Friday before the week of Final Exams.

Departmental Honors

1. Submit a project proposal to the College Honors Director via email (Dr. Howard).
2. Complete the research project
3. Follow the guidelines for a written Honors Thesis.  Edit and revise in collaboration with your faculty project adviser.
4. Submit final thesis to College Honors Director by the Friday before the week of Final Exams via email.
