Rocket Innovations

Rocket Innovations (RI) started as both a venture capital fund and a place where ideas and research outcomes from University of Toledo faculty could move from a lab setting out into the world. Rocket Innovations has the funds, know-how, and resources to support people and projects as they move forward to solve big problems, meet societal needs, and improve the lives of others.

Connected to many outside partners and governmental agencies, including the Ohio Third Frontier, the National Science Foundation and the National Institutes of Health, Rocket Innovations has been successful in gathering millions of dollars in grants and other funding to further its mission.

Rocket Innovations also contributes expertise and resources that support projects and people in our region as they pursue successful entrepreneurial outcomes for their ideas and products.

Rocket Innovations is proud to also partner with the College of Engineering; together we deliver non-technical professional skills training. We’ve also worked together to create a Student Incubator, in which participants learn how to take a project from the idea stage to potential market entry. We teach students both how to be an entrepreneur and also how to bring entrepreneurially-minded learning and other essential skills to all they do in their careers. We support the College of Engineering as one of a select few partner institutions from the Kern Entrepreneurship Education Network, (KEEN). KEEN is dedicated to preparing undergraduate engineering students for success with the entrepreneurial mindset. Students in our programs are taught to be lifelong learners and obtain the professional skills they will need to use in their careers and personal lives post-graduation.
