Professor Eric C. Chaffee co-organized a recent national conference of business law scholars. The National Business Law Scholars Conference was held on June 4 and 5, 2015 at Seton Hall University School of Law in Newark, New Jersey.

Dozens of top business law scholars from across the United States and abroad spoke at the event, which included a keynote address from Troy A. Paredes, a former commissioner at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.

Professor Chaffee founded the conference, which is in its sixth year and rotates its location, along with Barbara Black from the University of Cincinnati College of Law and Steven Davidoff Solomon from the UC Berkeley School of Law. Next year's event will be held at the University of Chicago in June 2016.

Professor Chaffee, reflecting on his experience planning the event, said, “I have literally met hundreds of scholars through founding and planning this conference. As a scholar and teacher, I always enjoy when others listen to and discuss my ideas. With that said, providing a forum for others to share their ideas, collaborate, and reflect can be equally, if not more, rewarding.”

"We brought Professor Chaffee on board three years ago to respond to a widespread desire among our students for an enhanced business law curriculum," says incoming College of Law Associate Dean for Academic Affairs Geoffrey Rapp. In addition to organizing the conference, Professor Chaffee coordinates the Ohio Securities Conference, which is co-sponsored by Toledo Law and the Ohio Department of Commerce, and directs the University of Toledo's JD/MBA program

New College of Law Dean Benjamin Barros said, "One of the things that appealed to me most about The University of Toledo College of Law was the national impact and recognition of its faculty, and this is a great example."
